The course is designed for psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, licensed counselors and other mental and medical health p rofessionals who work with bariatric surgery patients. This educational content is determined for an intermediate/advanced level. S ession Topics: • Panel: The Updated Recommendations for the Pre- Surgical Psychosocial Evaluation of Bariatric Surgery Patients • Panel: Debate—Should All Patients Undergo a Psychological Evaluation? • Keynote: New Devices PERIOPERATIVE CARE Time: 8:00am–12:00pm Location: Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Room 220-222 Session Overview: This ASMBS course provides of overview of perioperative care of the bariatric surgery patient. It is designed for Integrated Health professionals including nurses, dietitians, behavioral health clinicians and advanced practice nurses and physician assistants. Session Topics: • Preoperative and postoperative diets: What are the current recommendations and evidence • Perioperative pain management: Managing Pain and preventing Addiction • Fasten your seatbelts: The use of Checklists • Preoperative Psychological evaluations: Face to face vs. Remote • Enhanced Recovery After Bariatric Surgery (ERABS): Outpatient utilization for best outcomes CBN REVIEW PART III Time: 1:30pm–5:30pm Location: Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Room 297 Session Overview: This review course is designed for licensed Registered Nurses (RN) who have been involved in the nursing care of patients with obesity, for a minimum of two years, and are preparing to take the Certification Exam NOTE: This is part three of a three part course. All are required to complete this course. Only one registration is required for this course.
